Post-it Contents

Just a small square of paper with a little sticky on the back. The paper type is insignificant, but the contents written on the paper can move a heart.

Our church held a Prayer Experience to bring in the new year. We went as a family and prayed through the setup stations. As we traveled from station to station, inevitably some chaos ensued. One child drawing on another’s shirt with a sharpie, one child using her feet to scoot away in her umbrella stroller and yes, one crying.

As we arrived at station 5, Intercessory Prayer, we were to think of people who need to say ‘yes’ to the great invitation of salvation through Jesus Christ. We were to write their names on a post-it and stick it to the baptismal. I began to think of people I knew and wrote their names down. As I stuck my post-it up, I saw David sticking his up. As I read the names on his post-it, my heart was filled with so much emotion. Tears began. The names listed were: Garner, Samuel and Ruby, our three children. My heart was filled with gratitude to get to be married to this man whose first thought is the salvation of our children. I was overcome with joy as I realized amidst all the difficulties of life, at the core we are focused on leading them to their own relationship with Christ. I celebrated the victory over the lies Satan repeatedly whispers to distract us from our purpose.

Thank You, Lord for this shepherd named David You have given to lead our family!
